Chandigarh Administration eyes for 75MWp of solar power target to be achieved by 15th August, 2023


Chandigarh Renewable Energy & Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST) is the implementing agency for implementation of various rooftop solar projects in Chandigarh. A good progress has been achieved in the past inspite of constraints of land availability in Chandigarh. So far, 45MWp has been achieved on both Government and Private buildings. Further, the Chandigarh Administration has set a target of 75MWp to be achieved by 15th August, 2023. In order to achieve this ambitious target, a meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Sh. Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest-cum-Chief Executive Officer, CREST, Chandigarh with Members of Federation of Sector Welfare Association (FOSWAC) and Chandigarh Residents Association Welfare Federation (CRAWFED) of UT, Chandigarh to speed up the Solar Energy Programme in Private Residential Sector in UT, Chandigarh.



The motive of this programme to create the awareness among the Members of Federation of Sector Welfare Association (FOSWAC) and Chandigarh Residents Association Welfare Federation (CRAWFED) of UT, Chandigarh about the monetary benefits of installation of Rooftop Solar Power Plant.

In this programme, Sh. Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest-cum-Chief Executive Officer, CREST, Chandigarh had informed that capacity of 11.350MW Rooftop SPV Power Plant has been installed on 2643 Nos. of private residential houses in Chandigarh till date. A presentation was also showcased for better understanding of several benefits related to Solar Power Plant in Residential Houses in UT, Chandigarh.

The programme was attended by Dr. Abdul Qayum, IFS, Addl. Chief Executive Officer, CREST, officials of Chandigarh Renewable Energy & Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST) and Members of Federation of Sector Welfare Association (FOSWAC) and Chandigarh Residents Association Welfare Federation (CRAWFED)
